Web Shell Special Characters Fix
Mood:  d'oh
Topic: Bug Fixes

During our relaunch, a Web Shell config file was altered which resulted in some customers experiencing 'garbled text' where quotes or other special characters had existed in their HTML files.

This error only occured if you actually edited and saved a particular page that had these characters on it.

The error has been fixed and all special characters should now render fine upon saving your file.  However, if you did edit your HTML files and save them while this bug was present, then those pages will continue to have the garbled characters in them.

If you use FrontPage, FTP, or have back-ups of your HTML pages on your computer, you can re-upload those files and everything should go back to normal.

If you don't have back-ups to fix your pages, or if you're still getting strange text when you upload your new pages, please let us know!

When reporting these errors, please use our support-ticket system: https://help.lycos.com

Please give us as much information as possible, ie. tell us exactly which pages  on your website have the garbled text on them.  If there are any special characters aside from quotes, let us know what they should have been, and we'll be able to help you more swiftly and efficiently.

Thanks!

800x600 support & Manage Add-ons
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Angelfire Updates

So, while Angelfire is now optimized for 1024x768 and above monitor sizes, we do realize that there we still have some customers that do access our website on smaller monitors.

To accomodate these customers that may still be using smaller screen sizes, we have released an update that will automatically resize the logged-in website to fit 800x600 monitors.

The reason I say "logged-in" is because this update will only affect those pages.  The logged out pages will continue to be optimized for 1024x768 browsers, but sections like web shell and the control panel will be optimized to work on both screen sizes.

Now, a quick 'but' to this update... It will not work in Internet Explorer 6-8 (but will work on ie9).  If you use one of these browsers and want to be able to view Angelfire in 800x600, you will have to download a standards compliant browser, which are all free:
FireFox - http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/
Safari - http://www.apple.com/safari/
Chrome - http://www.google.com/chrome
Opera - http://www.opera.com/

On another note entirely, the new Manage Add-ons section should now be accessible.  We were having some problems with it yesterday, but were able to find the fix this morning.

We will continue to be making small updates and fixes as any other issues are brought to our attention from the change over to the new website.

Largely, the response to this change has been well received and we want to take this moment to say thank you to all of our customers.  There's so much more to come!
